The name is derived from two different meanings of the same word in the Czech language. One is explosive by nature and refers to stretching the canvas for painting, and the other is implosive by nature and refers to switching off the TV screen. When you switch off the monitor, in some older models this has the effect of shrinking the image to a thin line of light. An image abstracted in this way has been the inspiration for the design of orange tape. In the monochromatic relief inside the thin orange tape there is a discernible residual image, from which we can deduce what the scene could have been like before being shut down.
