Strokes (feather)

Strokes

Strokes with inlays of birth feathers engage with two phenomena simultaneously. One is an intimate, minimalist-Tachisme inflected brushstroke; and the other is the flight of birds, a kind of spatial feeling associated with freedom. The bird feather is inserted into the canvas in such a way that the viewer has the feeling of being on the same plane as the canvas. It is then retouched so that from a slight distance it looks like a painterly brushstroke. It is an illusion that allows one to enjoy the colour, texture and changing brilliance of the bird’s feather, which is basically impossible to paint.
