A series of anatomical drawings of entities depict essentially immaterial or inanimate beings as if they were not only physically material, but also didactically describable. They are a kind of archaic, scientific or school studies, specifying as precisely as possible something that defies our rational understanding. They make gods appear before our eyes in forms that are hard to believe, phantoms, mirages, Fata Morgana, mandrakes, Holy Ghost, genie, etc.
