Transfusion

Transfusion, 1993, performance tools, length 15 m, mixed media, blood, drill, pump, kite, variable dimensions

This performance equipment consists of two parts:

  1. A Chinese dragon kite
  2. A special glove. This glove is to draw blood from the hand of a performer and get it up to the hovering kite via an integrated pump and tubing. The special glove consists of a brace with an embedded medical needle and a container collecting the blood.

If enough blood is drawn, the performer triggers a drill that activates a pump capable of propelling the blood upwards to the dragon, thus reviving it.

This device is intended to bring the long-extinct mythical creature back to life through the performer’s self-sacrifice.
